Dublin January 17th 2017:
SMBC Aviation Capital, one of the world's leading aircraft leasing companies has been awarded the European Deal of the Year Award in the Aviation 100 Awards for its $500m Senior Unsecured Notes Issuance.
The SMBC Aviation Capital debut bond exceeded all expectations, securing five year, senior unsecured notes that priced with the tightest five year aviation leasing investment grade print since 2008.
Commenting on the award, Barry Flannery, CFO, SMBC Aviation Capital said, "This award pays tribute to our team who delivered an outstanding result for our debut bond issuance, which was eight times over-subscribed. It also demonstrates the market's confidence in our growth plans and is in line with our commitment to diversify our sources of funding."
Citigroup, J.P. Morgan, RBC Capital Markets, SMBC Nikko and Credit Agricole CIB acted as Joint Book-Runners in relation to the transaction.
The Aviation 100 Awards are organised by Airline Economics. The European Awards ceremony took place in the RDS in Dublin on January 16th 2017.
