SMBC Aviation Capital announces appointment of Chief Commercial Officer

Dublin, June 25, 2021: SMBC Aviation Capital, one of the world’s leading aircraft leasing companies, today announces the appointment of Barry Flannery as Chief Commercial Officer.

Barry joined the company in 1997 and was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2007. He has held a number of roles across the business, most recently being Chief Financial Officer.

The Chief Commercial Officer is a new role, reporting to the Chief Executive, that has been created to ensure SMBC Aviation Capital executes on its growth plans. It will bring together all areas of commercial responsibility within the business, including customer relationships, asset management and the development of commercial strategy.

Eithne Manning, who joined the company in 2005 and was previously Head of Funding, Finance and Tax has been appointed Acting Chief Financial Officer.

Commenting on the appointment, Peter Barrett, Chief Executive Officer, said:

Barry joined the company in 1997 and was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2007. Before his appointment to Chief Commercial Officer he was Chief Financial Officer and prior to that he developed and led the aircraft trading team. Barry holds a degree in Psychology and Economics from Trinity College Dublin and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
