Social
The social aspect of ESG involves how we engage with the community of stakeholders that are important to our business. This starts with our employees and extends to our shareholders, those in local communities where we operate and other businesses that interact with us. Relevant teams within our business, including Human Resources, and specific committees take responsibility to ensure cohesion across employee wellbeing, social elements, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives and employment standards in our supply chain. Our CSR (corporate social responsibility) Committee contributes to charities and local communities both financially and through volunteering.

OUR PARTNERS
No organisation can undertake this journey alone and we work with a number of partners including:
Mosaic
Mosaic is our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (EDI), formed in 2019 to ensure that EDI is a core business objective. Mosaic aims to create a workplace and wider industry that is representative of the world we live in, rich in gender and cultural diversity. We are committed to providing opportunity for all; to diversity by attracting and retaining diverse talent; and to inclusivity by developing an environment where each person is valued.
We have achieved a vast amount since inception and here are some of our latest accomplishments:
- IATA 25by2025 – Signed up to IATA 25by2025 which is a global initiative led by IATA to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) in the aviation industry. Currently we are the only aircraft leasing company to have signed up.
- ISTAT DEI Award – Winner of ISTAT’s first DEI award, which aims to highlight and showcase ISTAT member companies, teams or individuals who are “DEI Champions”; those who are positive role models, advocates, and allies in supporting DEI within the aviation industry.
- Hosting annual events for International Women’s Day and Pride and have a variety of external speakers to educate our people on diversity topics including gender, neuro and LGBTQ+.
Partnership with The National Gallery of Ireland Nationwide Schools Programme
SMBC Aviation Capital are proud to sponsor the National Gallery of Ireland’s Nationwide Schools Program. The programmes are dedicated to sustaining and expanding our sector-leading Education programmes, by continuing to break down barriers to accessing the arts and create a ripple effect of best practice development across the arts sector. It will provide opportunities for children and young people of all abilities and circumstances, to engage with their National Gallery of Ireland throughout their entire school journey and beyond. Across Ireland and in our local community, we will ensure that children are equipped from an early stage to know how to access the benefits of engaging with arts and culture – an important wellbeing resource that they can return to throughout their life.
The National Gallery of Ireland has created a dedicated, sustainable, and museum-leading Schools Programme that will support children nationally and locally throughout their entire school life as per the three programmes described below:
- Your Gallery At School – A National outreach programme for primary, post-primary, and special schools.
- My Primary School is at the Gallery – An immersive onsite residency programme for inner-city primary schools.
- Gallery Transition Year Programme – Our onsite and virtual creative careers programmes for Post-Primary Transition Year students.
- SMBC AC Schools Fellowship: a fellow appointed to develop the projects under the Schools Partner Programme
